SUMMARY
Carbon Monoxide is a colourless and odourless gas that can be caused by poorly installed gas appliances. Ingesting this gas can cause a number of very serious symptoms, including sudden death. We want to make sure that your rental properties are safe and up to code with properly installed and functioning Carbon Monoxide detectors.
CURRENT LEGISLATION
Scottish building regulations mandate that a CO alarm must be fitted whenever a boiler, fire, heater or stove is installed or replaced. It is recommended by HSE that all residencies, with or without gas appliances, have audible alarms in case of a faulty appliance. While CO alarms are safe and important to have, landlords should first ensure that all gas appliances are installed and maintained by a competent and Gas Safe registered engineer.
